A brand new Tech-Funk column on Beatportal
Just did this one-off post for the weekend on the massive Beatportal site, and as of the middle of next month, will be doing a monthly column on there rounding up my favourite 10 tracks over the past 4 weeks, as well as doing some commentary stuff on what's been happening in the world of muzak.
ELITE FORCE 'WEEKEND WEAPONS' on Beatportal
If you're running a label or are an artist releasing independently, please keep me posted with your latest release details and if it's something I'm into, I will give you generous coverage in the column.

Wickerman 2009 :: A Tech-Funk uber-summit
Meat Katie, Elite Force, Dylan Rhymes, Lee Coombs, Kid Blue and Zodiac Cartel are all spinning on the same bill. There's a stunning Funktion One rig, state of the art visuals, a full blackout tent and a seemingly endless 5am license to party. Let's also not forget the hundreds of total, hedonistic, Scots nutbags who live & breathe a no-holds barred party aesthetic.
There's also the weather, which has been amazing ... the storm clouds moved off as the music kicked in on Friday, and the sun shone so hard on Saturday, many of the fair-skinned locals were left glowing like pulsating orbs by the time the evening came around.
In the main field, Dreadzone trotted out their identikit festy-friendly schlock, whilst the Zutons upped the ante & put in a fine performance on the Saturday night which compensated somewhat for the stodgy tedium of the Human League on Friday night ... but as with most festivals, it's about the minutiae really, and those classic moments spent with friends, new & old alike.
This can only be Wickerman, 2009.

DJ Dan & Hijack remix The Loops of Fury
Some added fatness to this great single package from two of my favourite producers, DJ Dan & Mike Balance and Hijack. Dan & Mike's mix is pure peaktime electro house, whilst as you might expect from the genius mind of Hijack, an expertly crafted wonkfest recalling the halcyon days of Switch & Jesse Rose.
P33p it here & if u likey, grab it on BEATPORT. You can also keep up to speed with the Loops of Fury at their new FACEBOOK PAGE.

[UP & COMING] DJ Melee :: On The Mix :: July 2009
As a promoter, performer, and architect of the New England music scene over the past decade, Jason Giacoppo, a.k.a. Melee, has cemented his reputation as a top US artist and DJ. Now, with his successful co-creation of the Monism Music imprint and the buzz of a successful 2009 Winter Music Conference propelling its back to back releases The Drop and ISTF up the Beatport charts, Melee is expanding beyond his role as the US tech-funk diplomat into a global juggernaut.
Always a glutton workhorse, Melee originally climbed the ladder to General Manager of Satellite Records Boston and Mass Music, while balancing his duties as promotions manager/resident DJ for the former award-winning Avalon Boston, and Regional Director for the Red Bull Music Academy, while maintaining a busy schedule of performances. For most this would be a full plate; for Melee, too much is never enough.
With a full schedule ahead, including DJÃing abroad, remixes, and a label compilation in the works, the gravity surrounding Melee continues to draw laurels from every direction. But the kind words and support of industry leaders have only made him work harder, never content, always considering the next step; always maintaining that success is a journey, not a destination. Stay tuned to www.djmelee.com and www.monismmusic.com to find out what is upcoming in Melee's constantly evolving achievements.

The Loops of Fury :: Mixtape :: July 2009
The Loops of Fury are 2 Brisbane boys, previously known as Hyperion, reborn under a new banner, with a mighty sound that perfectly encapsulates their ELECTRO-TECHNO Manifesto. Imagine the Chem’s Battle Weapons mashed up with the turbo-charged drive of Marco Bailey or Brodinski capped off with the production skills of a Dyson or a Gartner and you’d be in the right ballpark for their debut single ‘Flick A Switch’. Props have been flyin' from DJs & Radio as diverse as Kissy Sellout, DJ Dan, D Ramirez, Lee Mortimer, Annie Nightingale, JJJ Australia, Laurent Garnier, Plump DJs, Dopamine, Lee Coombs, Christopher Lawrence, Annie Nightingale, Calvertron, Stupid Fresh etc... and now they have stepped up with their first Mixtape.
The debut single from the Loops of Fury is also now available from today, 13th July, exclusively at BEATPORT.

The Loops of Fury - Flick A Switch (Original Mix)
We are all SO hyped at U&A to be releasing this single later on this month. Seriously, it's not every day that something BRAND NEW comes along that grabs you by the balls & runs with you screaming, naked & unashamed down the busiest shopping street in London with your sorry sack in it's evil clutches, bawling & spitting as you fly past the passers-by howling 'FLICK A SWIIIIIIIIITCH'. Um. Yeah.
Anyway, p33p it here, first, on the mighty TFM :)
