Bitrok - DJ Mix (September 2010)

The Bitrok boys from Brisbane have been a little quiet of late, opting to hone their tech-funk trade in the studio, and in doing so have actually generated an album of great diversity & range. But, to prove they haven't gone all dancefloor-shy on yo ass, they've cooked up a seamless one-hour mix with their acid-tinged-filth-stylings to the fore. On 18th October, the boys release their debut on U&A Recordings ('Push The Envelope'), but before that enjoy their mix & show 'em some love on their SOUNDCLOUD PAGE.

Elite Force - Strongarm Sessions Special Edition #04 (LIVE)

Recorded live & direct at the Boat Party I hosted on the Thames earlier this summer on two CDJ-800s and a dusty old DJM-600, it captures something of the essence of the night. Unfortunately we were cut short by a rather noise-averse captain, so I took the liberty of editing on the two tracks I was planning on finishing my set with to round things off as they were intended. This is the first LIVE Strongarm Sessions since back in the Breaks FM days, and the first of the year, so do enjoy and feel free to add your comments to the SOUNDCLOUD page or the FACEBOOK page and also spread the link far & wide :)

Daft Punk - Rollin' & Scratchin' (Loops of Fury Re:Fix) [320]

Jaqlavak :: Crystal Methodist EP

Years ago I (Adan, your humble TFM contributor) released tracks with Scot Sifter for Boombox Records, helping in our own small way to cross pollinate genres before we knew the term Tech Funk. Anyway, one of our new tunes had the honour this week of being the first release on Sturdy Recordings, a US based upstart committed to spreading the Tech Funk ethos and sound throughout the states. Definitely need more of that.

The EP is out now on Beatport.

Elite Force @ Opulent Temple 2010

I've been AWOL in the desert. Burning Man this year was ten times the head-jam that last year's was (and that left me utterly floored). As usual it will take weeks to process the experience, and probably longer to find the right words to describe the indescribable, but in the meantime I'll be dropping a series of video edits on the blog.

First up, the jaw-dropping Saturday night set at Opulent Temple. I loved the changes that OT made this year, bringing the perimeter in tighter, tweaking the flame guns on top of the booth, and massively improving the fire control that the DJ (yes the DJ!!) has inside the booth, not to mention the reconfiguration of the bottom end of the system which meant you could hear it from the DEEP Playa.

This felt like a homecoming in the truest sense of the word )*(
